Stride and Ride for Muscular Dystrophy

WATERLOO (KWWL)--About 100 supporters walked or rode their wheel chair around Crossroads Mall in Waterloo, raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual "Stride and Ride".

The MDA District Director explained that the approximately $15,000 raised will go to provide "help and hope" for those affected by Muscular Dystrophy.  This includes help buying equipment like wheelchairs and communication devices.  It also goes towards funding research and MDA summer camp at Courageous.

The top fundraising group belonged to Tim Nienam.  Nienam says that their main motivation for raising the money was because of his son who died of muscular dystrophy. They alone raised $6,000.
