Former Iowa first lady Erbe dies

URBANDALE (KWWL) -- Former Iowa first lady Jacqueline D. Erbe has died of complications from Parkinson's disease.  She was 88 years old.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16th at Grace Episcopal Church in Boone.

Erbe, wife of the late Gov. Norman A. Erbe, died Wednesday.  Erbe was involved with many civic and philanthropic groups in Des Moines. Erbe also co-founded the Historical Museum in her native Boone and became involved with the Iowa State Historical Society.

Erbe graduated from the University of Iowa with a political science degree. Norman Erbe was elected governor in 1961 after two terms as Iowa attorney general.

Erbe's grandson Charlie Wittmack says Erbe was equally comfortable on the farm as she was at black-tie parties.
