WAVERLY (KWWL) -- After floods destroyed a school, Waverly Shell Rock plans to fix two problems in one.

The floods forced left so much damage at Washington Irving Elementary in Waverly, the district decided it was too costly to fix.

Thursday, the district unveiled three design plans for a new Middle School building for grades 5 through 8. It would not only replace Washington-Irving, but also the aging junior high school.

On Thursday, parents had a chance to review the plans and offer ideas to fine-tune the design.

"I'm looking for a building that's obviously safe and have a variety of space to do many activities," said Amy Kent, a Waverly Shell Rock parent.

The district will hold more public input sessions before deciding on a design. That final design will determine the amount of bonds the district will ask voters to approve in April.
