Support for Child Tax Credit

Linn County (KWWL) - Linn County law enforcement leaders are voicing their support for the expansion of federal tax credits for struggling families.

New research shows kids are more likely to be involved in criminal acts when their parents' income is below the poverty level. Child Tax Credit supporters say this boost would allow working parents to keep more of their income, and in turn, decrease the likelihood their kids will commit crimes later in life

"Our most important asset is our kids and every decision we make as parents and community leaders should be in the bwest interest of our kids," Chief Greg Graham of the Cedar Rapids Police Department said.

The tax credit expansion would provide aid to 144,000 Iowa children It is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
