President Obama expands health coverage for children
Today the US House has voted to expand a federal children's health care program to 4-million additional children. Nearly every Democrat voted for it, while most Republicans voted against it. Hours later, President Obama signed it into law. The State Children's Health Insurance Program or S-CHIP currently covers more than 6-million children whose families make too much for Medicaid, but can't afford private insurance. The program will be funded by an increase in the federal cigarette tax.
