Decorah man accused of selling unlawfully taken deer

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A Decorah man faces two federal counts of selling unlawfully taken wildlife.

Authorities charged Allen Hogenson, 51, in an indictment unsealed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids.

The indictment says that in 2004 Hogenson illegally sold buck whitetail deer and someone transported the carcasses to Virginia and Nebraska.

Hogenson appeared in federal court on Wednesday and is free on bond. His next court date is April 6th.  He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each charge.
