Judges limit ballot review in Minnesota Senate lawsuit

Posted:

ST. PAUL (KWWL) - The judges in Minnesota's Senate election trial say they will consider evidence that about 4,800 rejected absentee ballots should be counted.

The three judges hearing Republican Norm Coleman's lawsuit gave their decision in an order Tuesday. Coleman wanted the judges to consider up to 11,000 ballots. He says local election officials improperly rejected them because they used different standards.

Democrat Al Franken leads by just 225 votes. His lawyers wanted the judges to limit Coleman to offering evidence on 654 rejected absentees.
