Nominations Needed For 2009 Mayors' Awards

Posted:

Black Hawk County (KWWL) Here's your chance to nominate deserving individuals for the 2009 Mayors' Volunteer Awards and Top Teen Awards. These annual awards, presented through the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley, recognize individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to service through their volunteer efforts all across the Cedar Valley.

The Mayor's Volunteer Awards honor exemplary contributions of individuals ages 19 and older, who dedicate their time and talent toward volunteerism in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and/or Evansdale.

The Mayor's Top Teen Awards pay tribute to area youth ages 13-18. Nominees must attend school in Black Hawk County.  The Community Foundation of Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Northeast Iowa also selects one junior from each of the accredited high schools in Black Hawk County to receive the $ 500 Mother Moon Service Scholarship.

All 2009 nominees and winners will be recognized during a special awards program April 23 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in downtown Waterloo. This annual event will be sponsored by the Cities of Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Evansdale, along with the Greater  Cedar Valley Chamber Ambassadors and the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley.

Nominations will be accepted through March 13. To request a nomination form, call the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley at 319-277-2087. Nomination forms are also available online at: www.cccv.org.
