CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) --  Jon Crews announced Tuesday that he is seeking his 13th term as the Mayor of Cedar Falls.  Crews holds the distinction of being elected one of Iowa's youngest Mayors, first elected at the age of 24.

"The record growth of commercial and residential starts runs counter to the national economy and has helped the City hold the line on taxes. Our streets and bridges are in good shape and more improvements are set for spring '09. Flood control, emergency response and disaster readiness & recovery have been thoroughly re-evaluated and improved," Crews continued.

Crews is a native Iowan, born in Waterloo and grew up in Cedar Falls.  Crews attened West Point and transferred to the Univerity of Northern Iowa where he got his teaching degree in 1970, MA in History in 1975 and MBA in 1991.

When Crew hasn't been serving Cedar Falls as Mayor for parts of four decades, he has taught at UNI, worked for Deere & Co., MCI-WorldCom, Omega Cabinets, and served as County Treasurer.
