New Hartford Library open for business

NEW HARTFORD (KWWL)-- June's floods went down in history, destroying dozens of buildings in New Hartford, including the library.

On Monday, almost eight months later, New Hartford's library  has reopened.

The flood destroyed about 2,000 of the library's books.

Hundreds of people from across the country pitched in to help the library reopen.

"We've had loads of help,'' said Valerie Ballhagen of the New Hartford Library. ''We've had over 100 people help from all over the place. Some people came from Omaha.

The library actually has more books now than it did before the flood, all thanks to donations from the public.
