Concert Food Donations Top One Ton

(Cedar Rapids-KWWL) Concert-goers not only enjoyed the amazing sounds of Christian singing sensation Chris Tomlin last Friday night at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, they donated more than a ton of food.

Life 101.9 Radio, KNWS, www.life1019.com sponsored the Chris Tomlin concert, and encouraged listeners to bring non-perishable food items to the U.S. Cellular center for donation to the HACAP Food Reservoir and the River of Life Food Pantry. By the time donations were totaled, concert-goers had dropped off 2,200 pounds of food.

Nearly four-thousand people attended the Chris Tomlin www.christomlin.com  Hello Love Tour concert stop. The Friday night concert also featured Waterloo native Israel Hougton and New Breed. www.newbreedmusic.com. as well as the beautiful voice of Christy Nockels, www.christynockels.com  who has been appearing with Chris Tomlin at various stops along Tomlin's Hello Love Tour.

KNWS, Life 101.9 Station Manager, Doug Smith, says, "The outpouring of generosity from our listeners was amazing. The folks from the food pantry had to call for extra vehicles to help take away all the food that was donated. We really appreciate everyone pitching in to help those in need in our community."
