Governor to sign Rebuild Iowa Bill

DES MOINES (KWWL)--It's Rebuild Iowa Day in our state's capital and the governor is expected to sign a multi-million dollar bill Monday.

Governor Chet Culver is making another step toward recovery efforts, signing a $56 million Rebuild Iowa Bill.

The funds will help with additional jumpstart housing assistance, unmet needs grants and community disaster grants.

The Rebuild Iowa Bill is the first legislation to be signed into law by Governor Culver from the 2009 session of the Iowa General Assembly.The Rebuild Iowa Office is sponsoring the day at the state's capitol. Iowans can learn more about the state's recovery efforts from 1-3 p.m. Monday.

There will be displays and representatives from Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Iowa City, New Hartford, Oakville, Palo, Parkersburg, Waterloo, Waverly and other disaster-affected communities at the event.
