Warmer weather for annual firefighter tradition

CORALVILLE (KWWL) -- Normally, it's a lot colder for one of the great firefighter traditions in the midwest.

The 34th annual winter water fights Saturday brought hundreds of firefighters from all over to Coralville.  The water fights have teams trying to spray a hanging barrel to the opposite end.  Some great rivalries have developed over the years.

"There are some traditional powers that come back every year. You'll see some of the Coralville young guys fighting and there's a little bit of bragging right there as well. Basically, everyone's there to have a reallygood time," said Coralville firefighter Brian Flaherty.

Firefighters say the waterfights are a great way to bring old friends together.
