Waterloo (KWWL) - Local television businesses are enjoying the spike in sales. TV sales usually spike the week or two before the Buper Bowl, but this year sales have been high for weeks. Local retailers say a lot of people are getting set up for the DTV switch, and people are spending leftover Christmas cash.
The biggest problem businesses have now is delivering the new tubes in time for the game.
"There are alot of sports fans, it's like can you get it to me before the weekend so ya for those guys were trying to diliver as many as possible today and tomorrow to get them set up," Brian Shaw of Maximum Sight and Sound said.
Another reason people spend money this type of year is that they're looking forward to a big tax return.
