Man charged with stealing $12,000 from ATM

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Police make an arrest in the theft of $12,000 from an ATM.  Police responded to Casey's General Store on Center Street Thursday, on the report of money being taken from an ATM.

An employee with Mobile Money, the owner of the ATM, told police approximately $12,000 of cash was missing from the ATM.  An investigation led police to a former employee of Mobile Money, identified as 27 year old Christopher Cobb of Cedar Falls.

Police say Cobb had entered the store Wednesday, opened the ATM, then left the store with the money.  After obtaining a search warrant, Police searched Cobb's residence.  They found a large amount of money, and also found marijuana.

Cobb is charged with first degree theft and possession of marijuana.  Police also charged 23 year old Alexander Patterson, of Cedar Falls, with possession of marijuana.

Both Cobb and Patterson were transported to the Black Hawk Coutny Jail.
