Snow now, possible flooding later

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Heavy snow contributed to last summer's record flooding across Iowa.

As the snow piles up again this winter, we could be in for more flooding. That all depends on what happens in the next few months.

The record flood of 2008 started with an already saturated ground. Then heavy snow melt kept the groud wet and rivers high. When heavy rains fell on top of that the water had no where to go and flooding ensued.

Now, Storm Track 7 meteorologist Jeff Kennedy says packed snow across Iowa could create trouble if it melts quickly and is followed by rain.
