Cedar Falls man faces federal child porn charges

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A Cedar Falls man faces federal charges for production and possession of child pornography.

A grand jury Wednesday indicted Ryan Dean Heath, 28, with one count of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, Heath is accused of persuading one or more minor females to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of the conduct.   The Indictment also claims Heath possessed an image of the sexually explicit conduct.

These charges stem from an incident in April of 2007.  That's when Cedar Falls police arrested Heath and two others for having sex with two girls and video taping it.

If convicted, on the porn production charges, Heath faces a mandatory minimum 15-years in prison and could face a maximum of 30 years and a $250,000 fine.

If convicted on child porn possession, Heath faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
