Hundreds of teachers vying for jobs

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center is playing host to the UNI Overseas Recruitment fair, where more than 120 schools from more than 70 countries are looking to hire teachers this week.

More than 600 elementary and secondary teachers from UNI and the midwest are looking to gain employment through the event. Wednesday and Thursday schools will be reviewing teachers files.  Friday and Saturday the interview process will take place. Many teachers will be hired right on the spot.

"As a teacher education institution thats had a long history of producing wonderful teachers, it's really quite a privliage to be able to assist these schools in finding the teacher that they need every year," said Tracy Godon, Director of the Overseas Placement Service at UNI.

This is the 33rd year for the event.  It's the oldest international teaching recruitment event in the world.
