Iowa home prices stay strong

Waterloo (KWWL) - New numbers out from First American Corelogic show national home prices declined, but home values in eastern Iowa are staying strong.

The real estate report finds that home prices across the country dropped 10-percent, the largest decline in 30 years.

On the opposite end, Waterloo-Cedar Falls home prices increased almost 1-percent.

The three communities with the largest home appreciation are in Binghamton, New york; Plattsburg, New York; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Home valuse in all threel went up about 7-percent.

First American Corelogic's Home Price Index (HPI) finds that California, Arizona, and Nevada homes fell the most.

On average, Iowa homes either didn't change, or fell less than 5-percent. Our neighboring states either stayed the same as well, or fell less than 10-percent.
