Update: Owner believes fire started from wood burning stove

JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL)--An auto repair business is destroyed after an early morning fire.

Doug Yansky's Auto Repair, located on Yvette Street Southwest caught fire early Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 3 a.m. Monday morning, and worked on the fire through 6 a.m.  50 firefighters from departments in Johnson counties assisted on the scene.

A resident who lived in an upstairs apartment of the business called 911.

''There was an apartment up above and he had smelled smoke and called the fire department and got out on his own.,'' said Tiffin Fire Chief Brian Detert.

Owner Doug Yansky says he could see his 25-year-old business from his home miles away. He thinks the fire started from a wood burning stove inside the business. Several cars surrounding the business were also destroyed.

"I got here immediately after the sheriff called me around 3 and it was pretty much engulfed in flames.  I live about two miles from here and I could see the glow from there so I knew there wasn't going to be much hope,'' said Yansky.

No one was injured.
