CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) Larry Vave with Waterloo Boats is always thinking ahead to great boating weather.

At the Iowa Boat and RV show at the UNI-Dome. Vave helps others think spring, too.

"With all the cold and winter we've had, this offers a get away," said Larry Vave.

Waterloo Boats has the largest display at the show with 18 boats.

Lots of styles... from fishing to deck boats.... and lots of prices from $13,000 to $55,000.

Vave said if you're looking for deals, winter is the time to buy.

"Our manufacturers give off season incentives to purchase," said Vave.

Vave said you can save around a thousand dollars buying in the off-season. Savings is why Jaclyn Krivachek and her husband are shopping now.

"We are looking to buy a boat, a fishing boat. We're from Minnesota now, originally from northeast Iowa," said Jaclyn Krivachek formerly of West Union.

Besides lower, off season prices Vave said the slumping economy is actually benefiting boat buyers.

"The lowest interest rates we've probably had in about ten years. So the financing is excellent. That's one positive thing that's come out of today's economy is low interest rates and gas prices are much lower than a year or two ago," said Vave.

Those incentives could be enough for some shoppers to say, "Yes."

"I guess if we do find a great deal we'll pry get something," said Krivachek.

Whether show attendees are buying or just looking, it's nice to be reminded spring will come... eventually.
