Postville Hearing Postponed

IOWA CITY (AP) -- A U.S. District Court judge has postponed the bail hearing for the former chief executive officer of a kosher meatpacking plant in Postville.

The hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, was to decide whether former Agriprocessors CEO Sholom Rubashkin should await his trial in jail. It has been rescheduled for Monday morning.

Rubashkin's attorney, Guy Cook, says the hearing will likely take more than two hours, and could continue throughout the week.

Rubashkin faces charges of harboring illegal immigrants, document fraud, bank fraud and identity theft. He was also named in a 99-count superseding indictment filed last week which added charges of money laundering and violating orders from the U.S. agriculture secretary.
