Danny Banks: Oelwein Policeman and Body Builder

While Kurt Warner is gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated--another former Northern Iowa football player has dreams of making a magazine cover of his own.

Waterloo native Danny Banks was recently featured in a photo shoot for muscle and fitness magazine.

Banks who currently serves on the Oelwein police force--has dreams of one day making body building more than a hobby.

 If you plan on working out with Danny Banks--be prepared to bring a lunch.

Three hours a day-- six days a week-- banks can be found at Gold's Gym in Waterloo--- pumping iron!!!

Banks began to devlop this passion while still in high school at Waterloo East...But he says the love has only grown since his playing days at uni when he weighed just 217... Now Banks has added nearly 40 pounds of muscle.

Banks' impressive physique is gaining attention across the bodybuilding world-- this past summer he was flown out to California for a photo shoot--with the pictures being displayed in the December edition of Muscle and Fitness magazine...The unofficial bible of the sport of bodybuilding.

Banks says his passion for bodybuilding and fitness helps him cope with his day job. {Nat sot}

Banks is the first African-American police officer to ever serve on the Oelwein police force.

There are obvious stresses that go along with police work.

Just like bodybuilding--- Banks says he is driven to be the best he can be... Inspiration that comes from his mother and his father who died two years ago.
