Pair faces drug charges after getting stuck in snow

VINTON, Iowa (AP) -- Two people have been arrested on drug charges after the car they were driving in got stuck in a snow drift.

Lucynda Jo Manternach, of Mechanicsville, and Bobby Joe Witt, of Cedar Rapids, were arrested on drug charges. The 34-year-old Witt also faces a charge of eluding while participating in a felony.

Police say the two were in a van that led police on a chase after being pulled from a snow drift around 1:30 a.m.

After one deputy in pursuit became stuck in the snow, the van was eventually stopped by an Iowa State Trooper.

The 36-year-old Manternach is being held in the Buchanan County Jail. Witt is being held in the Jones County Jail on traffic charges from Linn County and is awaiting an appearance on the Benton County Charges.
