Hawks' Cyrus Tate Out for Wisconsin Game

Posted:

Iowa forward Cyrus Tate likely won't play this week against Wisconsin and Penn State because of a sprained ankle.

Coach Todd Lickliter says there is still a lot of swelling in Tate's ankle, which was injured against Minnesota on Jan. 8.

Lickliter says Tate may have aggravated the injury by trying to practice on it.

Lickliter says he hopes Tate will miss no more than this week's game, but he wants to make sure Tate is fully healthy before he plays again.

Tate, Iowa's top post presence, is averaging 7.4 points and 6.3 rebounds a game.

The Hawkeyes have dropped their last two games by an average of 18.5 points with Tate on the sidelines.
