UI theater home reopens after flood

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- The University of Iowa Division of Performing Arts is back at home.

After three moves because of damage during June's flooding, the Iowa's Theatre Building west of the Iowa River has reopened. The move will come just in time for the start of spring classes on Tuesday.

Hancher Auditorium, the Art Building, the Art Building West and the Voxman Music Building remain closed. The north end of the UI Museum of Art is opening Tuesday to help house music.

June's flooding filled the Theatre Building's basement. Water came within an inch of the ceiling.

The theater building's basement housed offices and classes as well as the division's costumes and props.
