Time ticking for Linn County

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) --The owners of the Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids have told the Linn County Board of Supervsiors they need to buy the mall, or find a new place for county offices.

The mall has been the home of several county departments since the June floods.

On December 1st, Westdale's owners offered to sell the property to Linn County for $18.5 million dollars.

The supervisors said they wouldn't be able to make a decision until the end of February.

Now the supervisors say they won't be able to make a decision for 6 to 9 months.

In a letter dated January 13, mall representative Clinton Miller says the mall's ownership will not extend the county's leases and will prepare the property for sale unless the county decides to buy.
