Class cancelled because of stubborn buses

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - The Cedar Falls School District was going to resume classes Friday after missing class becuase of the frigid temperatures, but shortly after 7:00 a.m. those plans had to change again. That's because 12 buses would not start because of the record breaking cold... Waterloo tied a record set in 1962, at -34 degrees.

So far Cedar Falls has missed four days of school.  They will be made up at the end of the year.

Dave Stoakes, Cedar Falls Superintendent said, "Everybody has a different opinion and people like to share their opions with me about the weather and what our decision has been, but first and foremost we're going to put the safety of our students is the top of the list."

School officials say this was the first time in more than 30 years that school had to be called off because of transportation problems.
