WATERLOO (KWWL)-- Some Iowa airports have lift-off in terms of funding.

The Waterloo-Courier Newspaper reports the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded nearly 3.5 million dollars to 19 Iowa airports in grants.


Atlantic will receive $152,000 to help purchase a snow removal vehicle with a bucket, blade, blower and sweeper for Atlantic Municipal Airport.

Southeast Iowa Regional Airport Authority in Burlington will receive $390,943 to help purchase a replacement aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle at Southeast Iowa Regional Airport to meet Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

Clarinda will receive $154,850 to help extend a taxiway at Schenck Field.

Clarion will receive $154,940 to help expand the apron at Clarion Municipal Airport to increase the aircraft parking area and increase aircraft safety movement areas.

Council Bluffs Airport Authority will receive $84,550 to help update the airport master plan at Council Bluffs Municipal Airport to help adequately plan airport development.

Denison will receive $66,500 to help install runway end identifier lights and precision approach path indicators at Denison Municipal Airport.

Des Moines will receive $665,000 to help rehabilitate an apron at Des Moines International Airport.

Fairfield will receive $47,500 to help install a rotating beacon at Fairfield Municipal Airport to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.

Grinnell will receive $246,533 to help Grinnell Regional Airport improve an access road to provide a clean and efficient access to the airport and help provide lighting on existing towers to increase safety during nighttime operations and in marginal weather.

Jefferson will receive $259,407 to help construct a hangar for medium based aircraft at Jefferson Municipal Airport.

Lamoni will receive $113,289 to help extend a taxiway at Lamoni Municipal Airport to reduce exposure time on the runway.

Mapleton will receive $81,700 to help construct a partial parallel taxiway at James G. Whiting Memorial Field to improve safety and efficiency.

Mason City Airport Commission will receive $302,852 to help Mason City Municipal Airport purchase a snow removal vehicle and friction measuring equipment to test the runways in inclement weather.

Mount Pleasant will receive $151,218 to help rehabilitate a taxiway at Mount Pleasant Municipal Airport.

Orange City will receive $112,100 to help purchase a snow removal vehicle with a dump body and plow at Orange City Municipal Airport to remove snow and ice from the airfield pavements in a safe and timely manner.

Pella will receive $112,100 to help purchase a snow removal vehicle with a dump body and plow at Pella Municipal Airport to remove snow and ice from the airfield pavements in a safe and timely manner.

Sac City will receive $92,150 to help purchase a new electrical vault at Sac City Municipal Airport.

Shenandoah will receive $152,000 to help construct a storage building to house and protect snow removal equipment at Shenandoah Municipal Airport.

Storm Lake will receive $109,250 to help construct a new building to house the electrical vault at Storm Lake Municipal Airport.
