If you're feeling the winter blues you won't find relief at the tanning salon, according to researchers at the Skin Cancer Foundation. Seasonal Affective Disorder affects nearly 15 million Americans each winter. Some tanning salons say their services will prevent the disorder, but experts at the skin cancer foundation are quick to debate. While light therapy is a proven treatment, experts say the UV light in tanning beds will not help. Only visible light, like that from a sun lamp, will work. Experts say people who use tanning beds are two times more likely to develop a type of skin cancer.
