No jail-time for fatal drunken crash

ELKADER, Iowa (AP) -- The Clayton County Attorney's Office is recommending no jail time for a Guttenberg man who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a fatal crash last summer.

Scott Wille signed a guilty plea on Tuesday to a charge of first-offense operating while intoxicated. According to the agreement, the county attorney's office will recommend the 27-year-old Willie receives a 60-day jail sentence but that all but two days are suspended.

Those two days will be satisfied if Wille completes an intensive drunken driving program.

Wille was charged after a June 14 crash, when Wille slammed into an accident scene on U.S. 52, north of Millville. The crash killed 22-year-old Michael Clinton and seriously injured 21-year-old Daniel Rodriguez.
