Iowans prepare for inaugural parade

WATERLOO (KWWL) The executive director of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony is marching in the inaugural parade January 20th.

Emily Pawlak is helping to direct the Colts Drum and Bugle Corp of Dubuque. She was a member of the Colts more than a decade ago. She played the trumpet and was a drum major during the course of seven years in the corp.

Twenty-five of the 119 marching spots were reserved for alumni like Pawlak. She helped write letters to get the Colts accepted into the parade.

The Colts Drum and Bugle Corp leaves Saturday evening from Dubuque and is still looking for support. The group still needs $15,000 of its $60,000 goal.

The parade is at 2 p.m. on the 20th. The distance is 1.7 miles.

Pawlak said she's thrilled to be part of an historic event, especially since the "change" started in Iowa with the caucuses.
