Panthers Eliminated from National Duals

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The No. 21-ranked University of Northern Iowa wrestling team suffered a 29-10 defeat to the No. 17-ranked Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in the consolation round of the 2009 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals presented by Hibiclens.

UNI (4-4 overall) secured victories from Josh Baldridge (133 lbs.), Moza Fay (165 lbs.) and Christian Brantley (285 lbs.) in the dual.

The Panthers will be in action again next Friday and Saturday as they embark on their Western Wrestling Conference season. UNI will take on Northern Colorado in Greeley on Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. (Central) and then travel to the Air Force Academy for a dual on Jan. 17 at 8:30 p.m. (Central)

    The Iowa Hawkeye baseball team gave up a season high 13 runs in a 13-5 loss to Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights took two out of the three games in the series against the Hawks. Rutgers pounded out 16 hits in the games and scored the first 10 runs in just four innings.
