Weather system continues to present travel problems

AMES (D.O.T. NEWS RELEASE) - The Iowa Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the weather system that continues to push through the state is presenting travel problems, especially in central Iowa where travel is not advised by the Iowa State Patrol. This includes parts of Interstates 35, 80 and 235. Towing services are banned in this area.

Roadways in other parts of the state are partially or completely covered with a mix of ice, slush and snow. Roads are expected to slowly return to normal winter driving conditions throughout the day. Cold pavement temperatures, hovering in the teens and 20s, will delay recovery efforts in areas that experienced drizzle and sleet before the snow.
