Iowa receives $500,000 science foundation grant

IOWA CITY (AP) -- The University of Iowa has received a more than $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.

The grant, which was announced on Tuesday by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, will help to pay for a a cyber-enabled 500 MHz solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer.

The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer is a tool used to help chemists analyze materials.

The grant is for $512,460 overall.
