UNI Men End 12 Years of Frustration at Creighton, 69-66

It's been a long time since the UNI men's basketball team has won in Omaha...1996 to be exact.

And it's been five years since the Panthers have beaten the Creighton Blue Jays anywhere--tonight Northern Iowa trying to snap a nine game losing streak.

And the Blue Jays are flying high early-- P. Allen Stinnett skies for the alley-oop jam--- Creighton jumps to an eight point first half lead.

But the panthers regroup---Johnny Moran nails a three ball to pull uni to within one point... and then Adam Koch scores and gets fouled late--- UNI leads for the first time 30-29 at the break.

In the second half-- Johnny Moran drains three more of his game high 22 points.

Ali Faroukmanesch hits the long jumper to give the Panthers their largest lead of the night 42-33.

The Blue Jays rally---and they take a 65-62 lead on this Cavel Witter three pointer with less than three minutes to play.

but Ali Faroukmanesch hits a big shot from the baseline to give UNI a 67-65 lead.

And then Faroukmanesch makes two clutch free throws with 9 seconds to play as UNI snaps a nine game losing streak to Creighton 69-66.
