Former Panther Dunbar Out At Minnesota

Former Northern Iowa head football coach Mike Dunbar is out as the offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota.

Gopher head coach Tim Brewster said today that Dunbar is resigning to pursue other professional interests.

Mike Dunbar was the head coach at UNI for four years from 1997-2000.

After productive stints as offensive coordinator at Northwestern and California,  Dunbar was hired by Brewster at Minnesota to install a version of the trendy spread offense .

He was given a three-year contract with an annual base salary of $265,000, but the Gophers didn't move the ball with any consistency during his two years in Minneapolis.

Brewster said there was no timetable for his national search to replace Dunbar.
