Big Bopper casket for sale

Clear Lake (KWWL) - One of Rock 'n' Roll's most historical artifacts could go on the auction block.

The family of the late 1950's pop star J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson says they may sell his casket on Ebay.

The steel casket was exhumed last year to a more visible location, and it gave forensic experts a chance to examine the pop singer's unautopsied remains.

The 28-year-old Big Bopper died on February 3rd, 1959, in a plane crash in a field near Clear Lake, Iowa. Also killed were rock stars Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.

The Bopper's son will protray the singer in a 50th anniversary of the Winter Dance Party Feb. 2nd, in Clear Lake.
