Iowa teen makes emergency landing in Greene

GREENE (KWWL) -- A young Iowa pilot has an interesting story to tell after making an emergency landing on a frozen farm field.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating an emergency landing of a small airplane near Greene last week on December 31st.

The pilot, 18-year-old Kevin Brown of Greene, says the engine on the Cessna-150 he was flying siezed up at about 1,000 feet.  He tried unsuccessfully to restart the engine mid-air, then found the field and landed.
The plane was damaged but Brown and a passenger suffered only bumps and bruises.

Brown had rented the plane from the Waverly Airport.
