A benefit for a local high school student that was postponed because of winter weather was held on Monday, January 5. After suffering a sports-induced injury, Wapsi Valley High School junior Jacob Wenger was taken to the Iowa City hospital. Doctors found severe blood clotting on his brain. To help with medical expenses, several area groups organized a benefit for Wenger. The soup supper and raffle was held at the high school after being postponed. If you missed it and would like to help, a benefit account has been set up at both the Readlyn Savings Bank and Northeast Security State Bank in Fairbank in Jacob's name. These accounts will be open until the end of January.
