Brian Westbrook caught a short pass out of the backfield and zigzagged through the Minnesota defense for a clinching 71-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, and the Eagles spoiled the Vikings' first home playoff game in eight years, 26-14.
Asante Samuel's 44-yard interception return of Tarvaris Jackson's errant pass in the second quarter set a tone for the kind of game most Vikings fans feared from the unpolished quarterback. That was Samuel's fourth career postseason interception for a score, an NFL record.
Westbrook was an all-purpose threat, as usual. He ran for 38 yards and caught three passes for 83 yards, including the long clinching score.
McNabb, who was benched late in the season, continued his resurgence. McNabb was 23-of-34 for 300 yards and one touchdown and one interception.
The Eagles will travel to the Meadowlands to play the Giants next Sunday. The Eagles and Giants split two games, with each team winning on the road in that NFC East rivalry. Philadelphia has won four of its last six visits to the Meadowlands against the Giants.
