70 percent of Iowa homes estimated to have elevated radon levels

IOWA(KWWL)-- January has been proclaimed Radon Action Month by Governor Chet Culver.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates up to 70 percent of Iowa homes do have elevated radon levels.

A report out last year found some granite countertops linked to high radon levels.

The EPA estimates 399 Iowans die each year because of radon-related lung cancer.
