"Ice Fest" returns to Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL)-- The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in the Port of Dubuque will host its annual "Ice Fest" event Jan. 10 through Jan. 25, 2009. "Ice Fest" returns to feature scores of activities, educational programs and special guest appearances that emphasize the positive side of winter weather, ice and snow.  

Throughout "Ice Fest" the Museum and Aquarium will present special winter-related video programming as well as various modes of winter transportation and other seasonal artifacts.

Every weekend during "Ice Fest" will have a complete agenda of activities planned including snow and ice sculpting,  ice harvesting demonstrations, traditional Native American games, live animal programs, and winter safety programs.

Ice Fest will also highlight several guest speakers including a Polar Explorer, two popular children's television personalities and a local news channel meteorologist. And new to Ice Fest this year is the "Chill Out Chili Cook-Off" sanctioned by Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI).
