CR landlord to go on trial for fraud

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -- The trial for a Cedar Rapids landlord accused of mail fraud, perjury and filing a false tax return is scheduled to begin next week.

Robert Miell is set to stand trial on Monday in Sioux City. He faces 18 counts of mail fraud, three counts of perjury and two counts of filing a false tax return.

Ahead of the trial, Miell's attorneys have filed a flurry of motions asking for certain evidence to be withheld, but nearly all the requests have been denied.
