Des Moines woman's death ruled natural causes

DES MOINES (AP) -- An autopsy says the death of a Des Moines woman, which was at first considered suspicious, is due to natural causes.

Des Moines police say the cause of death for 65-year-old Dixie Lee Copeland was a heart condition.

Copeland's husband, Daniel, called police late Saturday to report his wife's death. Officers had said the death was considered suspicious after evidence from medical examiners conflicted with information given by the husband.

He apparently told officers that he thought his wife had fallen down the stairs after she got up and walked out their second-floor bedroom. The police report shows he later told officers he didn't know if his wife was in bed.
