Iowa man arrested for leaving shoe print on officer's chin

DES MOINES (AP) -- Police arrested a Des Moines man after allegedly kicking a police officer in the face hard enough to leave an imprint of his shoe on the officer's chin.

Christopher Wahlert is charged with intent to commit serious injury, assault of a police officer and public intoxication after being arrested on Sunday night.

Police say the 27-year-old was already being transported to Polk County Jail when he began hitting his head on the panel of a police wagon that separated him from the officers in the cab.

Police pulled over to place Wahlert in ankle restraints when he allegedly kicked officer Darin Miller in the face.

Wahlert was being held on $5,000 bond on the assault charge and $300 bond on the intoxication charge.
