Brother of former Iowa Governor could face fine

FOREST CITY (KWWL)-- State environmental officials want to give a larger than normal fine to the brother of a former Iowa governor.

They say Terry Branstad's brother, Monroe Branstad, of Forest City should pay more than the maximum $10,000 fine for pollution violations that include a spill in the Winnebago River.

Officials say 31,00 fish were killed because of his actions. The fish are valued at $63,000.

The spill was reported at his cattle farm in August. It's ranked among the 40 deadliest spills for Iowa wildlife since 1995.
