Panthers look to put end to "Even Steven" ways

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - As Ben Jacobson sits on the doorstep of his 3rd Missouri Valley season as head coach of the Panthers, he still hasn't tasted a winning conference campaign.

But he also hasn't gone through a losing one.

Two MVC seasons, each ending with 9 wins and 9 losses.

Jake and company will look to put their "Even Steven" days behind them beginning Sunday.

The Panthers will go after their third straight conference-opening victory when they host Indiana State.

After a rough start to December, UNI brings momentum to Sunday.

The Panthers are coming off arguably their best effort of the season with last weekend's blowout of South Dakota State.

It was really those practices that we started off with and then brought us some continuity into the game which just made everything seem so easy," said sophomore guard Kwadzo Ahelegbe. "So it really helped. It got us a lot of confidence. It's like a confidence booster."

"They certainly feel like they played a good game against South Dakota State," said Head Coach Ben Jacobson. "They've practiced like it the last few days. Their energy's been very good. You can see a little more bounce in their step. They feel more comfortable with what we're doing because we had some success against South Dakota State and that was a very important win for us."
