Fire at Dubuque UPS not suspicious

DUBUQUE (AP) -- Fire officials say foul play is not suspected in a fire at a United Parcel Service warehouse in Dubuque.

Assistant Fire Marshal Mike McMahon says it appears the Christmas morning fire was caused by a vehicle malfunction.

The fire damaged three trucks and caused significant heat and smoke damage.

McMahon says the investigation is pointing to an electrical system failure in a truck parked in the warehouse.

Vince Blood, a UPS human resources director in Earth City, Mo., near St. Louis, says the fire shouldn't cause any change in service.

He says the Dubuque warehouse will not reopen until repairs can be made but that processing and delivery of packages will continue at an alternate site.
