Bean poll: City should buy Westdale Mall

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The people have spoken, sort of, on a plan for the City of Cedar Rapids to buy Westdale Mall.

Linn County Auditor Joel Miller says a bean poll of visitors to the office shows people support buying the struggling mall by a margin of 10 to 1. It should be noted the auditor is currently working out of temporary offices in the mall.

The current owners of the mall offered to sell the mall to the City of Cedar Rapids for $18.5 million dollars, less than its assessed value. The City has until January 15th to decide.
